PUGLIELLI IS THE ONE, SAY WARD THREE REPUBLICANS
BOSTON September 16, 2003 - The Boston Ward Three Republican Committee
recommends a "bullet" vote for EDWARD PUGLIELLI in the City of Boston
Preliminary Election, Tuesday, September 23, 2003. Voters may vote for up to
four candidates for City Councillor at Large, but voting for a single
candidate, called "bullet" voting, is strategy for increasing a candidate's
chances of winning.
"We need a strong independent voice on City Council - we need to elect Ed
Puglielli," said Committee Vice Chairman John Boyle, a resident of Charles
River Park. "Our best shot at getting new representation on the council is
to stick together and give Puglielli our undiluted support," Boyle
continued. Bullet voting has, historically, been used by supporters of
candidates who are not part of the local political establishment because it
helps the preferred candidate without also pushing up the vote totals for
other candidates.
The Ward Three Republican Committee at their July 8 meeting in the North End
endorsed Puglielli
for City Councillor at Large.
The Boston Ward Three Republican Committee also reminds voters that we'll be
using a new poling system this election. Boston has switched to optical
scanners that will make voting easier and more accurate. The new scanners
will save taxpayers money, replacing outdated machines with state-of-the art
technology. When you go to vote on Tuesday you will simply pick up your
ballot, make your choices by filling in the ovals, and place the ballot in
the machine.
